That's fine but the game should work even if we host IPfailover on our servers.
This is not a acceptable solution. IMO

Yes I understand, I have my CoD4 on several different IP, and it suits me no, i had to install on a kvm, but this is not a solution.

1st point : If possible make a try without firewall rules.
If it works without firewall you are sure the problem come from your firewall rules.

2sd point : Must be :  7777 to 7780
Try too with TCP 27015 open

I think also one port (or severals) is missing and sadly i can't help more since i m hosting my server on a windows VM.
But when i tried on linux, the server was online and displayed on server browser and on server list but I couldn't reach it ( i did "connexion lost" message)

Did you try to join it directly with "connect IP:Port" ?

If Linux admins succeed to host Battalion server correctly, it will be welcome to enlighten us.

Yes, no luck with only those ports open. With it wide open IP connect and serverbrowser works like a charm... So there is something they'r not telling us

hi !

i need some informations :

i cant login on my linux server also when iptables is enable, when i disable it, it's ok i can connect with "connect ip:port"

at this moment we need to open these port : 27020 AND 27021 for steam (check logs on steam's log folder) and the server IP and the fourth one, but battalion's dev should say which ports we need to open because im not gonna disable iptables to play

ok, FYI :

add these rules on IPTABLES and no more issues (these ports are for steam) : (STEAMPS3 - AsyncTCPSocket created or if you cant connect)

iptables -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 27000:27015 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 27015:27030 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 27014:27050 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 3478 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 4379 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 4380 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 4380 -j ACCEPT

problem solved now :)

for some reason, even after adding those firewall rules, I still cannot connect to my server.

heck even without any firewall rules, same result

I get back to the menu screen...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. That being said I am running Ubuntu 16.04...

STEAMPS3 - AsyncTCPSocket created
STEAMPS3 - AsncTCPSocket destroyed

Running the latest version from: http://35.189.104.46/Community_Servers

Are there minimum specs ? I wanted to test the 5$ machine from DigitalOcean, pretty decent for the price...

1x Xeon CPU E5-2650 v4 @ 2.20GHz
1GiB System Memory

But could this prevent clients to connect ? From what I can see the CPU does not top when I attempt to connect.

I was also told that this error can be ignored:

[S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed.

Can anyone else confirm ?

It's still running @ 159.89.127.37:7777 if anyone else wana confirm the problem for my setup :D

I hope we will get an official reply soon

I'm also having the same issue with Digital Ocean Droplets. I guess the problem might be with Digital ocean network. I'm able to run server fine on some other hosts.

I tried a VPS from ArubaCloud with Ubuntu14.04 and it runs fine there.  But fails on DO servers, even there is no any firewall rules set.

It shows like this when connecting to the servers

Your connection to the host has been lost

At server terminal

4.17.2-0+++UE4+Release-4.17 513 0
Disabling core dumps.
[S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed.

Interesting !!

I will open a ticket with them ...

In the mean time I'll try a 5$ server that Vultr offers ;)

I used Digital Ocean's 5$ server for hosting my Bat1944 testserver without any problems.

I chose Debian 9.3 instead of Ubuntu though, maybe that could be a hint....

doh !

Yea... the sad thing is I wanted to go with Debian for some time but when I saw the Community_Servers guide stating Ubuntu I changed my mind... ugh !

I will include that in my ticker ;)

@C-BIN

I've just set up a fresh 5 bucks Debian 9.3 x64 Droplet with DigitalOcean and it works without a problem for me:
DO-5bucks-Debian_1.PNG.fd968a668f903c9b324e1b4afe5c5ddd.PNG

I can find my server in the game's server browser and can connect to it without a problem.
I tried both installing and running the server as root and as user without special privileges, both worked fine.
All I did after the Droplet was ready was "update & upgrade" and install unzip, nothing more.

Are you trying to run the server as root or normal user? What other software did you install?
