What kind of mods would you like to see in Battalion 1944?

This may not be very well received by a few, but we've been discussing...

I know its something that can be done by the players with map modding; but i've always loved jump servers.

Cod2 had amazing maps and servers and if my FPS would permit, i'd spend hours playing through maps.

I was pretty big jumper myself in CoD2. I would like to see the return of classical jumping in B44 :). I am missing the old grenade jumps and all that stuff.

Plus I think this will be achieved by community but I would like to see the return of classical Cod2 Zombie mod. Where 1 zombie on team gets to hunt the other team who have limited ammo and have to survive for as long as they can. When killed they become zombies themselves. Until the very last one alive becomes first zombie in the next round. And that would be cool without chainsaw bs, teleportation, lasers etc...

Would love to see Hide and Seek mode just like in CoD4. Would be fun to play when off competitive to know and learn the map more.

Somewhere i read that you can already start making maps for Battalion. I'm wondering which software to use as there is not any map tools for this game made yet.

How can I use Battalion textures?

First, a bit of information for those interested and not familiar with Unreal Engine 4;

  • Battalion 1944 is an Unreal Engine 4 (UE4), Code Project, which includes C++ classes and not just Blueprints
  • A Blueprint (BP) in UE4 is a form of visual scripting unique to UE4. It's C++ in flowchart/graph form. It allows people to make games without knowing C++
  • When Code Projects are packaged for release, it runs the code through a compiler and does not package the Code files, only the assets
  • Assets are Textures, Animations, Skeletons, etc. (the stuff you want for making maps, skins or whatever else)
  • From my understanding, although Blueprints are a .uasset they get compiled as well and not packaged. They are, after all, a form of C++

I should note that I have not even tried this next part myself, this is just my understanding of what could work for you. Mostly I work on my own projects and the modding I have looked into for UE4 have only been ARK and Squad. Each of these are found under the Modding section of the Epic Games Lanucher (which you use to launch UE4). Battalion is not there (yet?). If anyone else who has been modding with Battalion 1944 assets, or perhaps the devs themselves, wishes to chime in with better info, please do!

Providng the devs have deliberatly allowed this type of thing for modding sake;

  • Alpha backers with Alpha 0.1 installed from the last testing weekend, can navigate to;
  • *Your Steam Directory Here*\steamapps\common\BATTALION 1944 TEST ZONE\Battalion\Content\Paks
  • Then open "Battalion-WindowsNoEditor.pak" with UnrealPak or your prefered method/software
  • You can then use those assets in Unreal Editor by adding them through the Content Browser of the editor and start creating away
  • If the devs have made it so that you can't unpack it, or it's encrypted, etc. then you can get other WW2 assets and just use those

This might sound a bit "standard" or maybe a little "boring", but why not a zombie mod? :P Back in the Cod4 days i loved playing ROTU (rise of the undead). Buying weapons, buying turrets, mines, C4's, ... #TheGoodOldDays

Yeah, I do. I think if devs will give access to some advanced tools to use for modding then someone will have a chance to create something really great from this.

Battalion is fast paced and that fits into zombie mode very well. The only real challenge might be zombie's AI.

Idk if you guys know Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army, but that game would just be a great mod for Battalion :)

I dont remember the name of the mod anymore, but in cod4 there was a mod that let you turn into an item such as a table or a light post, it was like a hide n seek server, it was so funny to watch people come up with the funniest things, like a toilet sitting in the middle of the map and no1 noticing it for a long time.

Hunger games

What's that? You mean a Battle Royal game mode? I don't really see something like that working in BAT44. :P

Something like battle Royale. Basicly everyone spawns in a giant circle on the border of the map. Deeper to the center you find better guns (such as kar98, m1 garand) and closer towards the outside you can only find pistols. Every 2 minutes or so a certain area gets nuked, pushing everyone more towards the center.

I loved playing that a lot :) Bit similar to the Battle Royal Gamde mode on CS:GO
