some of the greatest stories and acts of heroism came out of WW2 on and off the battlefield.

many of them inspired books, tv shows and movies and many more were probably never widely told. my only intention in this thread is to capture the ones you know. they don't need to be your favourite or judged and ranked against other stories. i just think we should try to bring them together to maybe spark ideas for elements of the game;

Battle of Metz -

Operation Chariot -

Sabotage of Telemark -

Victoria Cross -

Operation Dynamo -

Operation Chariot was the one that did it for me Farq I posted that in the map ideas thread what a concept. Lord Mountbatten said it was only possible because it wasn't......

Metz also known as fort Driant is a belter too... A huge underground base I posted that one on the DOW forums there are some amazing maps of the fort itself that would help mappers.

The Guns of Naverone although not real was based on a real story. The island of Leros in the Dodecanese campaign was fought over and had the largest naval guns in WWII this would make a nice island attack map.

The one I would add is Monte Casino which could be adapted for a capture the flag map as its a type of map that seems very popular here.
